A crisp, modern session pale ale with an ancient story behind it.

Some beers start with a hop idea. Others start with a food inspiration. This one began with a grain we were genuinely excited to utilize in a brew!

Pitch Perfect is a Session Pale Ale brewed with fonio – a regeneratively grown, ancient grain with deep roots in West Africa. At 4.8% ABV, it’s light, expressive, and built for easy drinking without sacrificing any character.

In the glass, it pours pale straw with a soft haze and a brilliant white head. Aromas jump right out – think gummy peach rings, passionfruit, and a subtle herbal edge that hints at something still illegal in the state of NH :). The flavor follows through with bright grapefruit, ripe peach, and passionfruit layered over a soft malt base reminiscent of fresh, crusty baguette. The finish is dry, crisp, and incredibly drinkable. To say we love this beer would be an understatement!

What makes this beer especially exciting is the fonio itself. Fonio is a tiny ancient grain that has been grown and celebrated across West Africa for over 5,000 years. It looks like tiny couscous and can be a nice alternative to rice or quinoa, too. Naturally drought-tolerant and fast-growing, it’s widely recognized as a regenerative crop that also has real agricultural importance.

We sourced this lot through our supply chain partners at Country Malt Group, who helped make this remarkable ingredient accessible for brewing.

The name Pitch Perfect has three meanings, just like our name Throwback:

1 – The World Cup Connection – This beer was brewed to celebrate the World Cup, and, as former soccer players, there is nothing quite like walking on to a well-manicured pitch to get the juices flowing for a big game! Pitch Perfect will be released on June 10th, just ahead of the June 11th kick off.

2- A Perfectly Tuned Summer Brew- We think this beer is Pitch Perfect for summer drinking: light on its feet, crisp, refreshing, yet full of smile-inducing fruity aromatics.

3- The Film – And yes, it’s also a wink toward one of our favorite comfort-watch films. Not because of a single quote, but because of the whole idea behind it: harmony, timing, and everything landing just right when the group locks in. This beer is built in that same spirit, with everything working together in balance!
