farmer haulIt may still be Winter, but 2016 is well under way and (despite the snow on the ground) Spring is just around the corner. With the warmer weather also comes a whole host of fresh produce. We love everything local and try to use ingredients that are closest to home as much as possible. Local food and beer just tastes better and is so good for the environment and community!

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Pickup At Throwback Brewery

With that in mind, Three River Farmers Alliance want you to know about 2016 membership to their CSA. For those who aren’t sure, CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, and it’s basically a direct relationship between you and local farmers. Members can purchase shares of the harvest in advance to growing season. This means you, as a member, have access to fresh, local, organic produce.
Vegetable shares for 2016 are sourced from 4 local farms- Stout Oak Farm, Heron Pond Farm, Meadow’s Mirth Farm and Tuckaway Farm. These four farms make up Three River Farmers Alliance (3RFA), which began in 2014 as a way to provide local food to restaurants, grocery stores and institutions. Now 3FRA is expanding its reach to the consumer with its CSA format!
Now, if a multi-farm CSA wasn’t cool enough, here is (perhaps) the even cooler part — Throwback Brewery will be a pickup spot for this CSA. And, if you are a member of the CSA, we will give you 10% off your Throwback beer purchases on the same day / times you pick up your share. This includes beer drank at our pub or to go. It’s our little way of thanking you for supporting the amazing local farms around here.
Here are some additional details–
Pick up time will be Wednesdays 4-7pm, right here at Throwback Brewery!
The CSA will run from July 6th through October 19th, 2016.
The cost is $500, which is a 10-20% discount off market price.
You can purchase a share starting now for $500. If you’re interested in learning more check out the attached PDFs, or head to 3RFA Facebook page- https://www.facebook.com/3RiverFarmers/.
