Throwback Brewery, a sustainably-minded brew pub, is looking for a produce farmer with 3+ years of relevant experience to farm our five-acre farm, which includes vegetables, flowers, a small orchard, and perennials. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning, coordination, and implementation of all aspects of produce, fruit, and flower production
  • Delivering the desired quantity of produce for our kitchen, at a high level of quality
  • Clearly and directly communicating and coordinating with our Chef on pick lists and product availability
  • Always adhering to organic practices (non negotiable)
  • Long-term holistic farm planning
  • Record keeping, including finances, crop plans, and other relevant data
  • Maintenance of all farm infrastructure, tools, equipment and machinery
  • Communication with owners, restaurant, kitchen, and brewery staff regarding sales and use of shared tools and space
  • Maintenance of certain aspects of the 12-acre property, including regular mowing of grass, weed whacking and landscaping on an as-needed basis
  • Help with providing compelling farm-related videos and pictures for social media
  • Prep, setup and occasional staffing of local farmer’s markets

Preferred Qualities:

  • A driven, self-motivated team player who is able to work independently without direction
  • Proven knowledge of all aspects of sustainable vegetable production, with a strong focus on farm management and planning
  • Experience with production of perennial fruits, including an orchard, hop yard, berries, and other food plants
  • Well-versed in the safe operation and maintenance of tractors and other farm equipment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and extra hours during peak season on an as needed basis
  • Resourcefulness and problem solving skills
  • Alignment with Throwback’s company values
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Ability to move and lift 50 pounds

About Our Farm

Hobbs Farm is a historic sheep and cattle farm that was brought back to life in 2016. We are a diversified farm growing on 5 acres of land in North Hampton, NH at Throwback Brewery. We believe that taking care of our land and animals will provide the most delicious, nourishing food to take care of ourselves and our customers, and that’s why sustainability is at the core of everything we do here. Hyper-local production of flowers, food, and animal products is our top priority at Hobbs Farm.
