Remnant Rustic Lager - a love letter to local farms, one sip at a time
Our uniquely Yankee twist on a classic German style. Remnant Rustic Lager is a copper-hued Kellerbier brewed entirely with locally grown and malted New England grains — Danko Rye from Valley Malt, plus Golden Triticale and Crystal Rye from Blue Ox Malting Co. — giving it layers of earthy spice, soft sweetness, and subtle hints of molasses and maple. Balanced with floral, citrusy hops, including fresh whole-cone Cascade from the Tuck Museum & Hampton Historical Society, this beer is a love letter to local farms and flavor.
Here are our tasting notes:
- Appearance: A light reddish-gold with a gentle haze, topped with a bright, creamy white head.
- Body: Fuller than most lagers, giving each sip satisfying richness without heaviness.
- Aroma: Spicy rye and floral hops mingle with bready malt, creating herbal, earthy complexity.
- Flavor: Soft breadiness and hints of orange zest, with a light, peppery warmth from the rye. Subtle earthy undertones and a clean malt backbone balance perfectly with a lingering pithy, citrusy bitterness. Crisp, refreshing, and deeply satisfying — rustic without being heavy.
Fun Fact: “Kellerbier” is German for unfiltered, unpasteurized lager traditionally served straight from the cellar, celebrated for its fresh, full-bodied, rustic character. Staying true to tradition, Remnant Rustic Lager is also unfiltered and unpasteurized, letting the full character of the grains and hops shine – but, then again, we don’t filter or pasteurize any of our beers 🙂
Remnant Rustic Lager will be available starting Saturday, November 15th, on draft and in cans to go. Crisp, full of character, and unapologetically local — come grab some to drink or to share with friends who love to drink and support truly local!
