The Great Big Pumpkin Ale

For many years I have been begging Annette to make me a BIG pumpkin ale with the pumpkins we buy every year from Blueberry Bay Farm in Stratham. I’m talking the kind of beer that is crafted for wintertime sipping by the fire and for pairing with celebratory holiday feasts. Well, I am extremely happy to report that my wish has become a reality, and I could not be more happy with the result – it is an absolute treat!

Introducing The Great Big Pumpkin Ale- a smooth, strong, soul-warming ale with notes of roasted pumpkin, backed by a subtle symphony of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove, and allspice. Take a sip, and flavors of spiced caramel, fruity toffee, and biscuity malt will dance on your palate, ending with a wonderful alcohol warmth that will keep you toasty on the coldest of winter nights!

As is the case with barleywines, The Great Big Pumpkin Ale is very malt-forward, but it walks the perfect line between malty sweetness and a moderately dry finish. The body is smooth, velvety, and quite easy drinking for a 9.6% brew!

The Great Big Pumpkin Ale will be the first beer we can into our brand new Special Harvest series, which shines a light on our Farm-To-Glass brews that we are most proud of!

Cans and draft of The Great Big Pumpkin Ale will be released on Black Friday – Friday, November 29th (2-9pm).

Here are a few additional tasting notes:

Appearance – crystal clear, gorgeous dark amber color with ruby highlights and an off white head

Aroma – pumpkin-spiced caramel, toffee, bready malts

Flavor – Multi-layered malt flavors (toffee, biscuity, caramel), roasted pumpkin, boozy pumpkin pie, dried fruits

Mouthfeel – smooth, velvety texture with a lingering alcohol warmth
