The Chickenshack Bluegrass Band began nearly twenty years ago as two brothers in law and a wife got together singing family favorite songs. Then they crossed paths with Mr. Positive energy, banjo player Tim Hedlund hailing from Massachusetts, who had a gig in Seattle before arriving in New Hampshire. Now they needed a place to practice. After kicking out the chickens, a washing and a couple coats of paint, Craig offered up the chicken shack on his property. Hence, The Chickenshack Bluegrass Band was hatched. However, their sound was not complete until a retired USAF Colonel landed in their runway. With his upbeat rhythm and humor, he helps to give Chickenshack the cheerful spin on the music they share with their listeners.
While specializing in original-recipe bluegrass, Chickenshack also dishes out some spicy classic rock, home-style folk, and extra crispy country blues. Current specials include Tim Hedlund (banjo, vocals), Craig Pessina (guitar, vocals), Paul Smith (fiddle, vocals), Val Smith (bass, vocals, and a side of yodels), and Andy Stark (mandolin, vocals).
