We are beyond delighted to be hosting one of the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra’s (PSO) Field Trips on July 23rd, here at Throwback Brewery! The PSO Field Trip Series features five performances and guest speakers in different locations around the Seacoast. The one being held here is titled “Our Earth’, and begins with a climate change discussion with Professor Barry N. Rock (Professor Emeritus, Department of Natural Resources and the Environment), followed by chamber music that embraces our connection with the earth, and reminds us that we are its caretakers.
PSO performers will be: Ian MacKay and Brooke LaMonica, violin; Jan Heirtzler, viola; Dorothy Braker, cello
Music:
Joel Love String Quartet No. 1 – the Iter Animae (Journey of the Soul). As a whole, the string quartet depicts a transformation from dark to light.
Lisa Ragsdale string trios 1 and 2 “Surreptitious Seas” has a lively discussion about climate change and its effect, both on our Earth and in our psyche.
David Balakrishnan, “Tree of Life” quartet. Music evoking India, Africa, American Bluegrass and ending back in India with Kirtan chant, written by the founder of the Turtle Island quartet.
