Join the Gundalow Company for the first in a monthly series of Science Cafes hosted here at the brewery from now until March. The first one will feature Great Bay Horseshoe Crab Monitoring on Thursday, November 7th from 5-6pm with presenters Melissa Brogle, Volunteer Coordinator of Great Bay National Estuary Research Reserve and Chris Chabot, Plymouth State University Professor & Researcher.

About the Presenters

Melissa Brogle is the Volunteer Coordinator at the Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, and has been with the Reserve for 11 years.  She helps to recruit, train, manage, and recognize all of the Reserves amazing volunteers.  Volunteers help with every sector of GBNERR, including Research, Education, Stewardship, and Coastal Training programs.  Melissa has partnered with Chris Chabot and other area researchers for the past 3 years to help organize the volunteers for the Horseshoe Crab Monitoring program around Great Bay Estuary.

Chris Chabot is a Professor of Biology at Plymouth State University and has published over 30 field and lab articles on horseshoe crabs over the past 20+ years with a focus on their biological rhythms. His research has been funded by the National Sciences Foundation, NH INBRE, the Fish and Wildlife Service, NH SeaGrant, and PREP.

Our full menu will be available during the event, or you are welcome to come have drinks and dine before or after the talk. We are open 4-8pm that evening.

The Piscataqua Science Cafe series runs during the Gundalow Company’s off season at locations around the Seacoast.
