**WE HAVE FIFTEEN PEOPLE THAT RSVP’ED AND WE NOW HAVE A WAITLIST FOR BOOK CLUB MEETING 2**
The second meeting of our Throwback Brewery Book Club 2.0. will be on Wednesday, December 7th. We’ll gather at 5:45pm (so folks can get a beer / get settled), with the discussion starting by 6pm. We will be discussing ‘A Visit From The Goon Squad‘ by Jennifer Egan.
NATIONAL BESTSELLER • NATIONAL BOOK CRITICS CIRCE WINNER • With music pulsing on every page, this startling, exhilarating novel of self-destruction and redemption “features characters about whom you come to care deeply as you watch them doing things they shouldn’t, acting gloriously, infuriatingly human” (The Chicago Tribune).
Bennie is an aging former punk rocker and record executive. Sasha is the passionate, troubled young woman he employs. Here Jennifer Egan brilliantly reveals their pasts, along with the inner lives of a host of other characters whose paths intersect with theirs.
“Pitch perfect…. Darkly, rippingly funny…. Egan possesses a satirist’s eye and a romance novelist’s heart.” —The New York Times Book Review
“Wildly ambitious. . . . A tour de force. . . . Music is both subject and metaphor as Egan explores the mutability of time, destiny, and individual accountability post-technology.”
—O, The Oprah Magazine
A few things to note, if you are interested in book club.
1- Sometimes during pre-covid book club, we would get 15++ people at a meeting, and that number of people made discussion difficult. As such, we will cap the book club at 15 people. Interested in attending? Please shoot us an email now. Once we have 15, we will put you on a waitlist. WE HAVE FIFTEEN PEOPLE AND ARE ON A WAITLIST FOR BOOK CLUB MEETING 2
2- We also have a Throwback Brewery Book Club email distribution list. We email everyone on the list 2x a month – once to let everyone know what the next book and book club date is, and once again (a week before the meeting) to get a headcount of who plans on attending. If that sounds like something you are interested in, email us to add you to our distribution list!
In the first book club meeting, folks brought up the following books as options for subsequent meetings. If you have more to add, let us know! We can keep a running list.
