Mmmm, maple. The snow may still be on the ground, but that’s not stopping us from thinking about spring. And with spring comes one of our favorite events here at the farm – our 3rd Annual Maple Madness! March is prime sugaring weather in New Hampshire. It’s when the days are getting a bit warmer, the nights are still cold, and the sap is running. So on Sunday, March 25th, we’ll celebrate all things maple on the Seacoast. This is the third year we’ve teamed up with Rye-based Syrup by the Sea to host a fun-for-the-entire family event featuring maple beers and from-scratch food made with real NH maple syrup. And it’s only fitting that once again we’re holding it on New Hampshire’s 23rd Annual Maple Weekend!
Of course, we’ll have plenty of entertainment to go along with all of the maple goodness. Check out our schedule below for details on live music, magic, and farm tours.
Schedule of Events
– 12-4pm: Chris Olsen from Syrup by the Sea will demonstrate the real-time process of turning sap into syrup and have maple syrup for sample and for sale.
– 12:30-1:30pm: Magician Jay Fraser will be strolling around, entertaining the kids.
– 1-4pm: Live Music by the George Brown Music Duo, whose musical influence spans a range of styles from Americana to funk, on our outdoor stage.
– 2pm: Farm Tour with a visit to our Nigerian Dwarf goats & miniature donkeys.
Maple Beers
We’ll have beer on tap both inside and out in our beer garden this year – including maple beers, of course! In addition to our regular lineup, come on out and try our popular Maple Kissed Wheat Porter, plus three limited edition maple brews just for the event:
– Bananas Foster Maple Hefeweizen
– Maple Bourbon Hopstruck Cask
– Maple Blueberry Stout
Maple Menu Specials
We’ll also have Maple Sausage Breakfast Sammies and Maple Crullers available at outdoor food stations from 12-4pm, plus maple menu specials from 12-7pm including Chef Carrie’s nostalgic Sugar on Snow and a maple twist on one of our favorites, Maple Braised Carnitas Tacos.
Bundle Up…
Our 3rd Annual Maple Madness will be an indoor and outdoor event, so please dress warmly! We also like to keep it a free event, so everyone can take advantage of one of New Hampshire’s most time-honored products and processes that would have previously required a road trip north or west to experience. So help us celebrate NH-Made maple syrup and more on March 25th!
Fun Fact: Did you know that all the small businesses in NH combined boast 550,000 taps, producing over 154,000 gallons or 1.694 million pounds of maple syrup in our state!
About Syrup by the Sea: Syrup by the Sea has been making NH Pure Maple Syrup since 2012 on their Seacoast properties. This family-run business currently operates with almost 600 taps in the Portsmouth and Rye NH area, and is one of the only larger scale producers of maple syrup in the greater seacoast area. Syrup by the Sea’s single goal is to make the best pure maple syrup they can and provide you with a wonderful taste of nature’s perfect sugar. Their sap comes from sugar maples and red maples through sustainable collection that does not hurt or damage the trees. Chris Olsen, Founder of Syrup by the Sea, serves on the NHMPA (New Hampshire Maple Producers Association) and is the New Hampshire representative to the rest of the world for the industry.
