Get a jump (or a jig, or a reel) on your St Patrick’s Day plans at our Pre-St Patrick’s Day Party on Thursday, March 15th!
We’ll be unveiling our very first Irish Red Ale that day – a mild classic Irish Red featuring hints of citrus, tea, and light stone fruit– a new twist on an old style. We’ll also have Stout Stout on tap, our big and smooth 8.5%, full-bodied yet very drinkable, pitch black stout. Think layers of flavor – chocolate, dark fruit, raisin, toffee, caramel, and coffee – dancing on your palate, finishing with a light roastiness. If you’re looking for something even bigger to kick off the party, try our 5-Minute Fugitive Russian Imperial Stout (9.2% ABV), a full-bodied, rich & complex Russian Imperial Stout with flavors of plum, raisin, and caramel, complemented by a touch of roast and a gentle boozy warmth, ending with a lingering port wine/jammy tang. If you’d like a little luck o’ the Irish in that beer, try one of the beer cocktails we’re mixing up just for the day. Our mixologists are still working their magic, but we know at least one will keep with the dark beer theme, featuring our Mexican Chocolate Porter with a shot of salted caramel vodka (yum!), the Salted Caramel Mexican Chocolate, for $9.
From 6:30-8:30pm, we’ll host an authentic Irish session with local musicians Penhallow. A traditional celtic band centered in Portsmouth, Penhallow consists of veteran session players who frequent the many Irish sessions around the seacoast area and beyond. Together they host a regular weekly session at a local brewery and also perform just a few special concerts each year. So we’re thrilled they chose us as part of their St Patrick’s Day celebration!
It wouldn’t be a celebration of all things Irish without the food! Look for an Irish twist on our daily charcuterie plate and a hearty soup special. We’ll feature some traditional Irish menu specials, such as a Reuben made with local, slow roasted brisket, a Stout Stout Lamb Stew – A wonderfully hearty bowl of lamb stew, full of carrots, potatoes, and turnips. Very traditionally Irish – except for the addition of our Stout Stout! Served with Grandma Dahlgren’s Irish soda bread. Or order our popular Shepherd’s Pie off our regular menu. And we can’t wait to see what our pastry chef dreams up for a specialty cake!
Saint Patrick’s Day!
