We can’t believe it is almost December! While we aren’t quite ready for the cold weather, we are ready (and excited!) to release one of our most popular beers – Fat Alberta. For those of you not familiar with this beer, Fat Alberta is a full-bodied, chocolate peanut butter Russian Imperial Stout with an intoxicating peanut butter aroma & finish. At 10% ABV, Fat Alberta is a bit dangerous, given how smoothly she drinks!

12/6, 6pm, Fat Alberta Beer Dinner
Looking for a way to experience all Fat Alberta has to offer in an intimate setting – before she’s even released? We will be holding a Fat Alberta Beer Dinner here on December 6th, four days prior to the release day. We are super excited about this dinner, which is shaping up to be quite the culinary experience of beer and food pairings.
We think both our culinary and beer teams have really put forth some memorable offerings just for this dinner! In fact, we have four beers special beers we are waiting to release just for the dinner, plus a unique beer cocktail! Here is the menu:
Amuse–bouche: Gougère – a delicate French cheese puff – filled with smoked duck breast, crispy duck skin, apricot jam, rosemary, and candied ginger. Paired with a cranberry ginger Throwback beer cocktail.
First Course: Pan-roasted halibut, lobster bisque sauce, confit farm potatoes, sea bean salad. Paired with Rose Colored Glasses: pleasantly tart, earthy, hibiscus and rose hips gose.
Second Course: Local beef Carpaccio with an apple celery root salad, finished with green ginger aioli and truffle salt. Paired with Maple Bourbon Barrel-Aged Hopstruck: crystal red in color, Belgian candy, smooth boozy taste.
Third Course: Roasted quail stuffed with house-cured paprika sausage (Nduja) and cornbread. Served with parsley pesto, muhammara sauce, and fried potato curls. Paired with Port Barrel-Aged & Blended Fat Alberta: alcohol warmth, subtle berry, oak, and cigar smoke.
Sweet Finish: Peanut butter pot de crème with chocolate ganache and Fat Alberta caramel drizzle. Paired with Fat Alberta: nutty, dark chocolate, big body and taste.
Only 80 tickets will be available and this dinner has a history of selling out, so grab your tickets today while they last! Tickets are $78 inclusive of tax and gratuity, and include a small souvenir Throwback snifter glass to take home. (Mug club members only- please choose the Mug Club price, which is $76).
Fat Alberta day to us is much more than about releasing this particular beer. It’s about the experience around the beer. We love seeing many of our favorite customers with their friends and family – enjoying good conversations, having a few laughs, and delighting in each other’s company. We see our main job as providing an excuse (the beer) for everyone to come together for a good time!
In addition to releasing bottles and offering draft pours of Fat Alberta, Chef Carrie will be offering up Fat Alberta-inspired food specials. And, of course, Chris and the brewing team are working a few limited edition beers for this event:
– Strawberry Cherry Fat Alberta (on cask)
– Fat Elvis – Peanut Butter, Bacon, and Banana Fat Alberta (on cask)
– Barrel-fermented Fat Alberta blended with Stout #3
– Fat Alberta – our Peanut Butter and Chocolate Russian Imperial Stout (of course)!
So join us on Sunday, December 10th – doors open at noon and stay open until 7pm. Please note that we have a Fat Alberta bottle sale limit of 4 per person – Mug Club members can get up to 6 per person. In addition to the special beers and food, we’ll have many of our standard beers available, plus our full food menu, too.
