As you all probably know, we’re very passionate about beer here at Throwback Brewery. What you might not know (unless maybe you’ve overheard the tunes coming from our Brew House or Kitchen) is that we are also quite passionate about music! Having music so close to our hearts, it only makes sense to start bringing it to you!
We’re starting off small – with a variety of acoustic sets on select Wednesday and Thursday nights, ranging from one to three artists. Some are part of larger, well known local bands just doing their own thing – some are just folks who love to play. All share our vibe for earthy, rootsy, and soulful music that we think you’ll be very excited to hear.
Here’s the spring lineup!
Wed, 5/10, 6:30-8:30pm – Joe Young: With a voice and delivery that loosely resembles Ryan Adams, Joe Purdy, Ray LaMontagne, and Sean Hayes, Joe has carved a niche for himself on the Seacoast. From standard pop-folk, to soul searching ballads, and a smattering of inquisitive rambling Americana, Joe plays music that takes you on a journey.
Thurs, 5/18, 7-9pm – The Midnight Wrens: Local talents Sue Fitzgerald, Tom Powley and Brendan Power bring their own brand of vibrant americana to their monthly gig at Throwback via both original music and covers in a style all their own.
Thurs, 5/25, 7-9pm – George Brown Duo: Influenced by Ben Harper, Ryan Adams, PHISH, The Band, and Grateful Dead, long time friends and musical collaborators George Brown and Bryan Litchfield bring a wealth of musical and performance experience to every gig. With a mix of original material that spans a range of styles from Americana to funk, George’s music is sure to entertain even the most discernible listeners.
Thurs, 6/1, 7-9pm – Jake Davis: Jake of Jake Davis & The Whisky Stones brings a ‘sweet, salty, and soulful’ acoustic solo set to us here at Throwback – taking us through bluegrass, jazz and country tunes with his unique brand of vocals.
Thurs, 6/8, 7-9pm – The Kenny Brothers: Local Stratham jam band favorites Billy, Taylor & Joey Kenny join us for an acoustic set of original tunes peppered with a few favorite covers to kick off February. The band performs original songs that are rooted in alternative – folk music but with warm-hearted lyrics and earthy grooves. The Band, Little Feat, The Grateful Dead, and many others influence their unique groove-based roots music.
