Cancer sucks. It truly does. But it sucks a whole lot more when it affects kids. As such, when Rett’s Roost’s – an organization dedicated to providing a retreat for families with a child afflicted by cancer – came to us and asked if we would host a 5k fundraiser for their organization, it was a ‘no brainer’ to say ‘YES!’.

On Sunday, September 18th at 10am, we’ll be hosting Rett’s Roost’s biggest fundraiser of the year – the Superhero 5K. Join us for a fun morning here at the brewery! All registered racers (21+) get to join us for a free beer after the race and there’s fun the whole family, too.  There will be yard games, entertainment, faceprinting, a photo booth and a kid’s fun run (U10) after the race. You can help Rett’s Roost reach their fundraising goal of $22,000 by starting or joining a team on Crowdrise: https://www.crowdrise.com/Superhero5K. You can also keep updated on the event on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/events/219638255053349/. Oh and superhero costumes are highly encouraged!

About Rett’s Roost
Rett’s Roost provides a retreat for families with a child afflicted by cancer to experience art, yoga, grief support, nature walks, meditation, music, family portraits, massage, reiki, healthy meals, and more. An experience like this cultivates some small sense of normalcy amidst the chaos of a cancer diagnosis.

Rett’s Roost was started by the parents’ of Everett Thomas Cavan (aka, Rett), a beautiful baby boy with an infectious personality, who lost his battle with cancer. As noted on the Rett’s Roost site, Rett “chose his mom and dad to carry out his mission, to use the fund that grew to great proportions while he was sick to open a retreat center for children with cancer—somewhere far from hospital rooms, radiation, and chemo; somewhere beautiful and serene. Just once around the sun for this baby’s old soul; that’s all he needed to make his imprint on the world.”

You don’t have to know Rett or other kids like him to be touched by their stories. Come help us make a difference for these kids and their families on Sept 18th – Superhero Style! More info here!
