April 17th, 2021
7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
It’s been a while since we’ve released a package of barrel-aged beers AND even longer since we’ve hosted an event of any kind! As such, we are thrilled to be hosting a Virtual Barrel Tasting Event on April 17th at 7pm to end NH Craft Beer Week with a bang.
For $30, you’ll get a package of our three latest Rare Breed barrel-aged beers, plus a link to the live event, where Throwback Co-Founders Annette & Nicole will walk through the tasting of the beers with everyone and handle any questions along the way! Can’t make the event? No worries, you can still grab these special barrel-aged beers (and, trust us, you’ll want to try these):
- REALLY Long Lost Friend (11.9% ABV): Our Belgian strong ale aged for many, many months in a bourbon barrel. This beer is incredibly smooth for being very close to 12% ABV. When you take sip, a myriad of flavors will delight your palate – notably caramel, molasses, toffee, light bourbon, some oak, and light Belgian spice – finishing with pleasant, warming notes of alcohol. The barrel added a very nice backdrop of bourbon, adding a really exciting dimension to the beer!
- Rye Barrel-Aged Barleywine (11.45% ABV): This beer started its journey as our 10.5% ABV Barleywine (Strength in Numbers) before being aged for many months in a rye barrel that was formerly used to age red wine! This is a big, smooth beer with aromas of cherry & vanilla and flavors of caramel, raisin, red wine, prune, and cherry. The barrel adds easily detectable flavors and aromas of whiskey and oak.
- Maple Bourbon Barrel-Aged Hopstruck (7.1% ABV): We aged our Hopstruck Red IPA in a bourbon barrel that was also used to age and flavor maple syrup! The barrel yielded us a beer that is still very Hopstruck (for those super fans of the beer), but who’s hop edge is mellowed out with a maple sweet nose and flavors of caramel maple apple, with a slightly tannic and lemony tea finish. There is also a touch of the bourbon heat at the end.
As you can see, these beers pack a punch! We suggest grabbing a friend or two to share them with. We’re also offering an add-on Charcuterie Slate that we’ve curated just for this event. The slate features a whole 5.5 oz Lady Sausage Finocchiona (Fennel Salami), creamy Mt Alice cheese from Von Trapp Farmstead, the sharp and tasty Shelburne Cheddar, house-made crisps, our pickles, and hop-salted almonds. The slate is $30 and is a nice dinner for two (if you like eating meat and cheese for dinner!) or a lovely snack for four (if you want to snack on something so you don’t get snookered!). Of course, we can never guarantee Annette or Nicole will take that advice, so this event should make for fun viewing, don’t miss it! You can find all you need to get in on the action on biermi.
